Chao
Shao-An, The Master of Ling Nan School
The master of Ling Nan, Professor Chao Shao-An, is one
of the most brilliant students of the Kao brothers. Under
his brushes, the Ling Nan style was refined and raised
to new heights. The essence of the paintings are expressed
through strong and swift calligraphic strokes. It is completely
spontaneous. Consequently, the images convey liveliness
and spirit rather than just form.
Professor Chao's Chinese watercolor paintings are regarded as national treasures
in China. His paintings have been exhibited in museums
all over the world including the Smithsonian Institute
in Washington, D.C. |
